My former friend (I%26#039;ve fallen out with her for this) was helping me bottle feed Rocky and playing with the healthier puppies when she randomly said. %26quot;I%26#039;ve arranged for Snowbella to have puppies.%26quot; By that she meant I%26#039;m going to breed Snowbella who is a 6 month old Samoyed. She%26#039;s WAY too young to have puppies and my former friends parents don%26#039;t have a clue about breeding, so why are they letting a little 13 year old kid do it herself? I think watching me rear Rocky and cuddling Angel and Lily%26#039;s puppies has made her think. %26#039;I wanna do that%26#039;. But she doesn%26#039;t understand how there%26#039;s a difference betwee my parents being Kennel Club Acreddited and her bing a byb. I tried to talk her out of it but she won%26#039;t listen. I%26#039;ve known her family since I was a baby and they definitely don%26#039;t have enough time, money or space to raise puppies. Snowbella desite being a great dog is not a show quality pet and carries no champion blood in her. So she would not be cotributing to the breed. I also don%26#039;t think...
SHE WANTS TO BE A BYB OMG?! how do I stop her!?
Kidnap the dog and take her to the vet to get spayed, then claim to have %26quot;found%26quot; her after the stitches have healed.
And I%26#039;m only half kidding...
Reply:Call the ASPCA and report her. Tell them you don%26#039;t thin kit%26#039;s fair to the puppies and make it annoymus.
Reply:Is she a member of Y!A? If not, let her use your computer and look up all the info available about BYBs! Take her to every website you can with all the horror stories to read about what can happen! And good for you for realizing what the outcome can be! If she%26#039;s a friend of yours she may listen to you. There are adults that breed without giving a second thought to the possible outcome! Just take a nice looking male and female and think what pretty puppies they will have!!! This burns me up! Give it your best shot and I%26#039;ll be watching for updates on little Rocky! Bless you!!!!!
Reply:Have her take a look at the many, many responses here about breeding. All you have to do is go to the search bar and type in %26quot;breeding%26quot; and there will be a bazillion Q %26amp; A that come up. Also, find articles and photos about BYB%26#039;s and the overcrowding of shelters.
She is asking for trouble breeding without knowledge and breeding her dog way too young. This is exactly hows many end up in shelters and euthanized.
Reply:Get a copy of Oprahs Fridays show and give it to her. If that doesn%26#039;t do it, nothing will.
Reply:I would have my parents speak to her parents about the costs of breeding, and the health risks.
Reply:You should convince her to take the dog to the vet and ask if the dog is ready for breeding. The vet will try to convince her what is best for her dog, and she%26#039;ll realize how much it actually costs to take care of the pregnant dog and pups.
Reply:well she isn%26#039;t going to have to worry about the puppies because they aren%26#039;t going to live. a 6 month old having puppies isn%26#039;t a good idea. i%26#039;d be shocked if more than 1 lives and i wouldn%26#039;t be surprised if %26quot;snowbella%26quot; dies as well. i guess that will be a tough lesson to explain to their 13 year old.
Reply:I don%26#039;t know how you can stop your friend. It is sad for numerous pups to be born and probably wind up in the pound. If I am understanding you correctly the friend is only 13yoa. I don%26#039;t understand how the parents would let their 13 yr old take on such responsibility. I foresee disaster. She would let a pup die. Is she really going to take care of the ones that don%26#039;t die? Is she going to sell the pups? I don%26#039;%26#039;t think she is ready for what is to come. Does her parents know of her plans? They really should know. The dog really needs to be spayed to keep down animal population. Who did she arrange with for this to take place? The owner of the other dog or a child of the owner. This is something adults should handle. Perhaps your parents could speak with hers. She needs to see some footage of puppy mills. You can find this on the net, show her.
Reply:Have your parents talk to hers, and print out or list reasons why she shouldn%26#039;t breed, and what the requirements are to be a good breeder and how to know when/if your dog is ready. Ugh... please teach her that she is far from suitable to have her dog breed. :(In fact, show her this question and all the answers - maybe that%26#039;ll knock some sense into her head.
Reply:Have your parents talk to her parents. Her parents may have no idea what she is thinking and will probably shut her plan down really fast.
