Looking for midwest US wedding locations, picturesque, outdoor/indoor?

my fiance is from the Kansas City area, I%26#039;m from SD. I%26#039;m looking for a location for our wedding not till 2010 (were stationed overseas right now for a couple years). Considering where we both live it would be nice to find a wedding ceremony/reception location between, in or near either state. I%26#039;m thinking a smaller wedding ( maybe 50 people on my side and probably less on his)...is that small? We thinking late July early August for wedding months. The weather should be nicer at that time....warm but not TOO hot and still summery. But I guess that depends on the state too. I%26#039;d consider indoor/outdoor locations. Picturesque, beautiful, scenic. Not TOO fancy. I%26#039;d like to be able to decorate it my way (rather then a packaged deals where you would go with their choice of flowers, runners etc.)....or CAN you make your own decision with a %26quot;package wedding%26quot;? oh and I%26#039;m open to any color ideas as well. I like the idea of cali lily%26#039;s or star-gazer lilies, orchids. Thanks.

I live in K.C. part-time and I think there%26#039;s plenty of great places in the city. One of the great things about K.C is that almost everyone can get to it by air - it%26#039;s centrally located. I%26#039;m sure they will work with you on whatever you desire!

here%26#039;s a few to look at to get you started:

Reply:I would suggest the Peacock Inn in Chaska, Minnesota, which is a western suburb of Minneapolis. Since more people are coming from South Dakota than Kansas, having it in Minnesota would make sense.

My daughter had her reception for 100 people there. It is a beautiful old mansion with several large reception rooms on the first floor. They also had tables and chairs set up out on the wrap-around porch.

It is across the street from a beautiful park with a great gazebo for pictures.

It is a Band B, so the wedding party can stay in the rooms on the second and third floors.

Check it out.
Reply:If you are considering late July or August you don%26#039;t want to get maried in Kansas due to the heat. If Kansas area is where you want let me know. There are several GREAT areas around here for what you are looking for.
