I need more info about claude monet and i want to know if these are good information about the painter?

Claude Monet was born on November 14 1840. His Father Claude Adolphe was a business man and his mom Louise-Justine Aubree Monet was a singer. His father wanted him to go into the family grocery store business, but Monet wanted to be an artist. So he entered the Le Havre secondary school of the Art. He was converted to landscape painting by his mentor Eugene Boudin. Who derived his taste for painting out of doors.

When he traveled to Paris to visit The Louvre, he witnessed painters copying from the old masters. Monet, having brought his paints and other tools with him, he would sit by a window and paint what he saw. After two years in the African Light Cavalry in Algeria, He returned to Le Havre where he met JonKind. In 1862 he entered the studio of Charles Glevre in Paris where he met Auste Renoir, Frederic Bazille and Alfred Sisley, with whom he was to form the nucleus of the Impressionist group. Monet devotion to painting out of doors was illustrated by the famous story concerning one of his most ambitious early works, woman in the garden. The picture was 2.5 meters high which enable him to paint it, Monet had a trench dug in the garden where the canvas could be raised or lowered by pulleys. In England he studied works of John Constable and Joseph Mallard, he painted the thames and London parks. In 1871, Monet lived at Argenteuil where he painted the famous work of the Impressionist Movement. This was Sunrise, an illustration of the Le Havre landscape. The Painting had been hung in the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874. Monet moved to the northwestern suburb of paris in 1878, where he painted landscapes and seascape that had been campaigns to document the French countryside. The campaigns had been evolved into a series of paintings. From 1890 Monet concentrated on series of pictures in which he painted the same subject at different times of the day in different lights. As he continued to travel, visiting London and Venice, he painted two important series; one was the view of the Parliament and the view of Charing Cross Bridge. Monet attention was now focused on the celebrated water-garden he created at Giverny, which served as the theme for the series of paintings on water lilies grew to dominate his work completely. He had a special studio built in the grounds of his house so he could work on the huge canvases. On December 5, 1926 Claude Monet died from lung cancer. Through the claude monet foundation. People were able to visit his home and garden. His house is the main attraction of Giverny.

I hope what you have written is just notes and not your essay. There are lots of fragments and run-ons.

How do you know if you have a reproduction of a claude monet painting?

I bought a claude monet painting from a garage sale years ago for $2. To know if it's worth money I first ned to know if it's a reprodution or the real deal. it's the Claude Monet water lilies 1908 painting.

How do you know if you have a reproduction of a claude monet painting?
Is it an actual painting, or is it a print on paper? Of course, it is not one of the original paintings by Monet (he painted 3 different versions of water lillies). The originals are (1) hanging in the home of a private collector (2) in the Art Institue of Chicago, and (3) in Orangerie, Paris.

You can look very closely at the piece to determine if it is a printed paper made to look like a painting on canvas, or an actual canvas with paint on it. If you do have a canvas with paint on it, it may be worth around $150 - see this website where oil reproductions are sold: http://globalwholesaleart.com/index.php?...
Reply:The price and provenance are major clues.

That's a good amount of information there already.

Try Wikipedia, though that's not always the best source there is (but it compiles a lot of information into one article).

Google works well, too.

What book was this about a girl left alone with younger siblings?

the girl was about 12 or 13 years old, left alone with several younger brothers and sisters, left to care for them. They lived in a cabin in the woods, with a field of lilies or some kind of flowers nearby. There might have been a tv show related to this. Remember reading it in school or at the time that I was in school and if memory serves me right it was 1970s and no doubt out of print now.

What book was this about a girl left alone with younger siblings?
Actually, "Homecoming" was the book by Cynthia Voigt where the kids were left behind. "Dicey's Song" was the sequel.

You may also be referring to the Boxcar Children series.
Reply:Where the lilies bloom...I have always tried to remember the name of that book but your question inspired me to research it...B%26amp;N says

'Set in the Appalachian hills, the story -- narrated by 14-year-old Mary Call -- tells of her efforts to keep her family together and independent after their sharecropper father dies. . .
Reply:I remember a story that might be the one, if not, it is very similar, the name is "Flowers In The Attic".

That's the only book I can think of that is similar to what you're asking for.

I have a Ti plant which I think has gone to seed? or what?

I have had a Ti plant for over 30 years and the last week or so it grew a long (branch?) and coming off the branch are clusters of whitish flowers that kind of remind me of dandelions. The reason I noticed this at all is because I thought I could smell easter lilies in the room and my nose led to me to this growth which, when I get right up to it is very strong. Is this ok? Should I leave it alone? My plant is about 9 feet + tall. Thanks for your help. I could send a photo if it helps.

I have a Ti plant which I think has gone to seed? or what?
It's the blossoming of a wonderful species.

Enjoy the wonderful sight.

Some times flowers of such nature are mystical

i.e. they do not like photographs to be taken.

Reply:Great for you, it's flowering, That's great since they don't flower that often.

Just enjoy the fragrance, when the flowers wither (or whenever you don't want it anymore), just cut them off. I don't see the point of letting Ti plants go to seed since you can get new Ti plant incredible easy by cutting.

Poem Help by Wallace Stevens?

The Plain Sense of Things

After the leaves have fallen, we return

To a plain sense of things. It is as if

We had come to an end of the imagination,

Inanimate in an inert savior.

It is difficult even to choose the adjective

For this blank cold, this sadness without cause.

The great structure has become a minor house.

No turban walks across the lessened floors.

The greenhouse never so badly needed paint.

The chimney is fifty years old and slants to one side.

A fantastic effort has failed, a repetition

In a repetitiousness of men and flies.

Yet the absence of the imagination had

Itself to be imagined. The great pond,

The plain sense of it, without reflections, leaves,

Mud, water like dirty glass, expressing silence

Of a sort, silence of a rat come out to see,

The great pond and its waste of the lilies, all this

Had to be imagined as an inevitable knowledge,

Required, as necessity requires.

(I just need a brief summary because I'm completely clueless.)

Poem Help by Wallace Stevens?
I think that the essay linked to by sheeba711 is a decent effort at interpreting the poem.

In my view it's an intensely personal statement by Stevens of a state of mind and feeling that he experienced in later life. Because of its personal nature it's hard to be sure exactly what he means by some of the images.

What is clear is that he is struggling to understand the source of his poetic inspiration and its apparent absence or deterioration. From this perspective the entire poem is a paradox because it seems to despair about a lack of imagination yet at the same time it embodies an intensely poetic and imaginative expression of that idea. So based on the evidence of the poem's existence, there is no failure of imagination. Yet it seems to say that there is.
Reply:A poem about being old...the memories. Once you read it from this prospective the rest will fall in place.

Tattoo ideas... Please only serious answers?

I have an exsisting tattoo that I got 18 years ago. Each part of it has symbolism of something that happened to me and changed my life ( not in a good way). I got the tat to remind me of what had happened and to never let myself open for to happen again. Now I would like to sort of counter act the tat by having something positve around it. One idea I had was a memorial tat for my grandmother, she loved beautiful flowers and I love stargazer lilies.

My tat is on the left side of my pelvic area and is about 4 1/2" x 4". I think I want something that will go above it and curve over and up my side.

I would appriciate any serious ideas.

I have a pic of the one I have, but I can figure out how to link it to this page. Any ideas?

Tattoo ideas... Please only serious answers?
You could always incorporate water. Water would show that that part of your life has been washed away, cleansed if you will. I have Plumerias set in water (instead of leaves) for my grandmother.
Reply:Are you religious at all? Perhaps a symbol of your religion that is important to you. If you're not religious, I really like the memorial idea!
Reply:Do you have a picture of your current tattoo. It would make it alot easier to give ideas about how to incorporate your new ideas.
Reply:How about a rosary? circling around the area? just a thought and it is something positive.

How would this girl feel if I done this?

There was this girl that used to call me like everyday and wanted to talk to me but her family found out and made us break up. It's been 2 years and I still have alot of feelings for this girl. How do you think she would feel if I wrote her and explained to her my feelings all along and how do u think she will respond to me sending her roses and lilies?

I have done alot of crying over her and all I want to do is get her back. Is it possible that these flowers and the feelings letter would do the trick?

I knew that she really liked me.

Please repond with only serious answers please!

How would this girl feel if I done this?
Maybe she has feelings for you too. it would just make her day if you do all that stuff. if you are seriously with her, then go for it cuhz later you will regret it and wonder what would've happened if you never told her.

her family probably will be mad, but they have to learn to accept it.
Reply:how old are you and her???? ---- yes flowers would be wonderful --- leave the letter though --- send the flowers and a card then call her face to face if possible telephone if you must --- it could be the family will respond a little better as time has past ---- without knowing how old she is it is not really possible to say anything too concrete
Reply:how romantic...yeah i'd think that would do the trick...does she live nearby? try arranging a secret gettogether to talk to her. Above all keep it secret, don't let parents find out
Reply:it will result in her and her family thinking about you.
Reply:I dont think that will work. First of all, the girl might have lost feelings for you and you would look like an idiot. Second, after 2 years, do you think she hasnt got someone else? Third, after so much time, you think some roses and lilies will work? Love is strong, but not that strong.
Reply:How old are you? It depends on your ages. If you and her are both old enough to be dating now that 2 years have past, I feel that sending her roses (don't send the lilies) would be a nice first gesture. Then call her and ask her if she rec'd the flowers. Wait a few days though. Maybe she will call you first. You will know in your heart how she feels about you when you talk to her. Since I am a mother myself, I am wondering why her family made you break up. Were you too young? Was there a big age difference? Were you a good influence on her? You sound like a nice boy but you and only you know the reason why her parents made you break up. Good luck. Tell me how it worked out... A Mom

ed. THANK YOU. here it is:

Nora Roberts is a young woman of thirty five years of age but she looks younger – not older than twenty five. She comes from the south of America, Florida, but now lives and works in Germany, Berlin. Nora is an attractive girl, she has some likeness to Sharon Stone – she is a natural blonde, long-legged and slim-figured. She has grey eyes and delicate marble skin. She has a fascinating smile, when she smiles her eyes radiate special warmth and friendliness which attract people to her. She is very sociable and has a lot of friends and hobbies – she reads a lot, grows lilies and gardenias on the verandah of their rented flat, plays the violin and writes verses. Nora works as a reporter, she works for a women’s magazine and she travels all over the world a lot. Her department is responsible for the Real Stories column. She is enthusiastic and truly devoted to her job and enjoys what she does for a living.

She is married, her husband’s name is Kevin, he is a computerman. Kevin is a workaholic, he spends most of his time in computer programming. Their two sons are eight and ten, their names are Daniel and Nick, they both are schoolboys. They are very active and play sports. They have different interests – board games %26amp; video games, cartoons, comics and cars. They aren’t top pupils at school but they are rather diligent and teachers sometimes praise them which gives their parents great pleasure. The boys know what they want to do in the future – Daniel wants to be a doctor like his grandfather and Nick wants to pilot planes.

Her father is sixty eight, but he is still full of energy, he jogs in the mornings, you see, a person is as young as he feels. His name is Roger Smith, he is a handsome and respectable man with flecks of grey at the temples and a kind face. He works as a surgeon in a medical centre and writes books on medicine. His wife, Nora’s mother, is a pianist. She is currently on pension but she takes active part in charities, helping talented children. Nora’s parents live in a house in the suburbs of Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. Their house is a big and comfortable stone cottage to live in. It overlooks a small lake. There’s a garden of fruit trees behind it and a driveway in front. Nora and Kevin normally visit her parents in summer. Roger and Sarah always look forward to seeing their grandchildren.

You have a comma in a few places where there should be a semi-colon, as in "Nora is an attractive girl, she has . . ." Either put a semi-colon there, or put the word "and" after the comma, or you could put a period and start a new sentence. Otherwise it looks good.
Reply:looks ok to me well done
Reply:You said "she is," "she has," "he is," that sort of thing a lot, and it becomes redundant after a while. Try combining some of the sentences - as in listing items in a series.
Reply:Unwilling to waste my time and efforts in such a lengthy piece of literature (???). Next time be brief and you may get my help.

How can we work these flowers into our tiger tattoo?

My best friend of 12 years and I are getting a matching tattoo of two tigers with the chinese symbols for best friends in between them. This is what it's going to look like: %26lt;a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"%26gt;%26lt;img src="http://i19.tinypic.com/6tn7y2o.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"%26gt;%26lt;/a%26gt;

We want to add our favorite flowers into that tattoo but we're not sure how/where. Her favorite is sunflowers and mine are lilies. Help?

How can we work these flowers into our tiger tattoo?
oh thats so sweet!! the way the tigers are laying looks like they're meant to be holding a flower each anyway, picture it one holding a lily with a sunflower behind the ear, the other holding the sunflower with a lily behind the ear, the head of the flowers would sit on the paw closest to the face with the petals pressed to their face like they're cuddling it, the two stems would cross over between the two tigers. sweet!! i'm going all girly now!!!
Reply:yes, maybe she should get the tiger laying in lillies and you in sunflowers...

ya know.. get the other persons fav..

but those tigers are cute, especially if they were laying in some flower plants..

kinda pushing them down, and have them growing up all around them, where there not on top of them, maybe some blue skys...

Id change the tigers though...

Nothings worse than meeting someone random with the same tattoo you picked off thewall or internet, plus, unless ya drew those, they are someone elses art...

custom.. but not much different..

CUSTOM is the only way tattoos should be..
Reply:perhaps since sunflowers are larger, a sunflower in the background, shaded in, not colored...and a few smaller lilies laying whispy in front, not to cover or take away from the tigers...perhaps two laying in front facing the same way with their stems entwined.
Reply:make the flowers blooming around them...or maybe holding them in thier mouth or paws, maybe have them sitting on their respective flowers (each on one big flower)...if you guys cant think of anything, consult your tat artist, good luck
Reply:That is a fantastic tiger image to share with your friend!

You can have the flowers behind the tiger, underneath so that it looks like they are laying on them. You could have each tiger hold the flowers.

Again, great tattoo design!
Reply:Oh cute!! I love that tattoo! I think you should make it look like they are laying in a field of lillies and sunflowers.. laying beneath them. Then you could put a sunflower behind ones ear and a lilly behind the other ones ear.
Reply:have the tigers lay on hte flowers that way it doesn't look like the tigers are just floating.
Reply:hell yeah, matching tattoos. i think it would look hot if you put one tiger sitting in a patch of lillies and the other tiger sitting in a patch of sunflowers. i mean, they're baby tigers so the flowers aren't out of place, plus it says, "hey, i'm a tiger, i'm a bad *** but i'm sensitive because i like flowers" and by sitting in a patch i mean like surrounding them. well good luck.

Let us muslims analyze if Bible is still true words of God?

We must first of all know that the entire Bible is corrupted and unreliable and is mostly filled with man-made laws and corruption! GOD Almighty Said: "`How can you say, "We [the Jews] are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?' (From the NIV Bible, Jeremiah 8:8)"

The Revised Standard Version makes it even clearer: "How can you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us'? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie. (From the RSV Bible, Jeremiah 8:8)"

In either translation, we clearly see that the Jews had so much corrupted the Bible with their man-made cultural laws, that they had turned the Bible into a lie!

See Also Deuteronomy 31:25-29 where Moses peace be upon him predicted the corruption/tampering of the Law (Bible) after his death.

The Book of Moses predicted that the Law (Bible) will get corrupted. The Book of Jeremiah which came approximately 826 years after did indeed confirm this corruption.

Let us look at Song of Solomon 8:10 "Dear brothers, I'm a walled-in virgin still, but my breasts are full— And when my lover sees me, he knows he'll soon be satisfied."

She is a virgin with full swelling breasts. When her lover meets her, he will be satisfied from those swelling breasts! Obviously, she is referring to licking, sucking and other pornographic things that I can't mention here. Believe me this verse is not talking about them worshiping GOD Almighty together when they meet!! It is clearly and indisputably referring to graphic sex that involves her swelling breasts and other things such as intercourse.

Let us look at Song of Songs 4:5 "Your two breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that browse among the lilies."

Let us look at Song of Songs 1:13 "My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts."

Praising the bed that they had sex on: Let us look at Song of Songs 1:16 "How handsome you are, my lover! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant"

Let us look at Song of Songs 1:2-4 "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-- for your love is more delightful than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the maidens love you! Take me away with you--let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love (i.e., semen) more than wine. How right they are to adore you!" I don't think this would be appropriate for a kid under 18 to read. Also, I don't think it is appropriate to have such open sexuality in a divine book anyway.

His right arm sexually feeling her body: Let us look at Song of Songs 2:6 "His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me."

Let us look at Song of Songs 3:4 "Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother's house, to the room of the one who conceived me." So in other words, she was not married to him, and when she found him, she took him back to her bed room to have illegal sex with him? If she were married to him, she wouldn't take him to her "mother's house". She would take him to their house.

Let us look at Song of Songs 3:10 "Its posts he made of silver, its base of gold. Its seat was upholstered with purple, its interior lovingly inlaid by the daughters of Jerusalem." Why does the Bible teach young men to spend all of their time and effort to try to impress all of the girls in their town so they can possibly end in bed with them?

Let us muslims analyze if Bible is still true words of God?
Wow. Most Muslims I've had the pleasure of talking with are much more respectful than that.

And I would ask: Who created a) the sexual urge, and b) sexual pleasures to be filled in the proper marriage arrangement.

God. So if God wants to discuss them, there is nothing wrong with that. He's not lewd in the Bible. There is nothing in those passages that are lewd. They are frank, yes. But frankness, and lewdness are two different things.

Lastly, it seems your entire "argument" or "position" has a biased position to begin with. It doesn't follow the rational, reasonable method at arriving at a logical conclusion. You're trying to MAKE the facts fit what you want it to say, rather than investigating all of the facts, providing credible references for statements, and then letting the facts fall where they may without making "Shock value" statements.

You begin by stating very blatantly. "We all obviously know" without providing any references to back up the claims that you say "must be true".

Respectfully, that is not very, shall we say . . .mature way of investigating a matter. You are showing a complete bias.
Reply:muslims are the onli one who're capable of mis-quoting like this to make their suicide reasons look good. damn perverrtic religion bunch who defends their founder mohamad, for sleeping with a 6 yrs old girl.
Reply:If muslims say that the bible is from God and is corrupt. Then the koran is from god and is probably corrupt also. You muslims have bi-polar disorder.

Why would God make a mistake? is he so stupid he needs to re-write his own work?
Reply:The corruption of the writings is almost inexistent. The corruption are all the weak translations and the unauthorised interpretation of the writings. If you look closely at the Bible you will find that the coming of Muhammad in the Arabic peninsula was foretold there. There were even Christian pilgrims who went to the area of Mecca at the time of the Hejirah looking for the second coming of Christ.
Reply:Muslims are in no position to judge any religion.
Reply:are you threatening me?

i will declare jihad on your bunghole!
Reply:First of All I am a Muslim and I dont necessarily like your approach. Yes we do believe that some concepts of the bible have been changed after wards, such as the council in 350AD actually voted on the bible. Also many Unitarians and Christians have mentioned the point that some things in the bible might have been added and they have no surety to know.

However, Muslim scholars of the past never had problem quoting the bible or the old testament to further emphasize a point, show some information e.t.c if that did not contradict with the Final Book of God, The Quran as we know it. I think the right approach is to invite the Christians to analyze their history and the recording of the bible and then if they accept it or reject it, its up to them and their business.
Reply:Your question is moot!

Just the 1 mere fact alone that at 54 years of age Muhammed had sexual intercourse with a 9 year old "Child" renders anything that comes out of Muhammed's mouth less than credible!

http://www.anwary-islam.com/women/pwife_...

The "Real" God does not condone "Child Molesting"!!!

Muhammed was a "False Prophet"!!
Reply:look at this
Reply:So your saying that your Qur'an is wrong, because it says that the Bible is true. You Muslims make no sense at all, you say Jesus is a Prophet, yet you disregard everything HE ever said. Now you want to say that the Bible is wrong when your so called Holy Book says it is true.
Reply:the entire bible is corrupt? I though muslims believed in the old testament
Reply:Not exactly answering your question: Song of Solomon was written to show how MARRIED husband and wife should treat eachother with respect. And your thinking is seriously wrong, dude.
Reply:Well, although I haven't read those verses in context, it seems your interpretations are somewhat biased--like you are looking for verses to prove your point.

Also, all of your quotes are from the Hebrew Scriptures (the Old Testament). Unfortunately, we don't know much about the canonization of the Old Testament. At least with the New Testament, although it too might have been changed, we are somewhat educated of the canonization process.

If you believe the concept of abrogation within the Qur'an, then you couldn't you believe that God, possibly knowing the Old Testament had been changed, revealed to us the New Testament--or at least the Gospels?

And don't be so quick to dispute with "People of the Book."
Reply:So, let me get this straight - the Bible has been corrupted - and yet, you use that very Bible to prove your point that the Bible is corrupted. That's the most circular reasoning I've seen in a while.
Reply:all religion is corrupt as it was ALL written by the hand of man. yes the koran too. god doesn't have xerox and the hand of god hasn't handed anything to anyone. religion is an invention of man. the simple purpose is to attempt to answer questions that are unanswerable. at least until we can figure things out on our own.
Reply:1.U don't ever have the right to judge anyones religeon

2.U believe in the first half of this bible that is like u say corrupted

3.U say how would u know....then how could u judge the purpose of these words and make ur own conclusions.

4.U really need to get a life, i guess i wont see u in heaven some day?
Reply:Here is the passage in Deuteronomy you referenced.

25 he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD : 26 "Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God. There it will remain as a witness against you. 27 For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the LORD while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die! 28 Assemble before me all the elders of your tribes and all your officials, so that I can speak these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to testify against them. 29FOR I KNOW THAT AFTER MY DEATH YOU ARE SURE TO BECOME UTTERLY CORRUPT AND TO TURN FROM THE WAY I HAVE COMMANDED YOU.. In days to come, disaster will fall upon you because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD and provoke him to anger by what your hands have made."

The "Bible" had already been written at this point. And Moses (Peace be upon him) anticipated the "Jews" Turning from God (Almighty and most merciful,) and his statutes. AS MOST SEEM TO HAVE DONE TODAY. He mentions nothing about scribes or writings.

The Book of Jeremiah which came approximately 826 years after did indeed PROPHECY. But corruption.

Jeremiah 8

1 " 'AT THAT TIME declares the LORD, the bones of the kings and officials of Judah, the bones of the priests and prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.

Jeremiah is a book of prophecy not confirmation. We see God (Almighty and most loving) warn of the wrath that will overtake his peoples turning from his will and commands.

Song of Songs, has always been not a dirty or pornographic, image.

But an image of how it is ok to express love physically to your wife. One wife. Anything physical outside of marriage is sin.

Do you see anything dirty here that you would not want in your marriage relationship?

God (Almighty and most merciful) saw that the Jews disobeyed him and were beyond hope and deserved destruction. So he sent Jesus. (Peace and thanks be upon him) He never turned from God (Most merciful). Was always with him, and in THIS SENSE was a true son. God (Most merciful) allowed his chosen one to be killed by us. Whoever believes and repents of their sin and loves God will be shown mercy, God willing.
Reply:Yeah, you would think they would be better to teach them to strap a bomb on their body and blow up a bunch of innocent people so they could have 70 or so virgins in heaven.
Reply:the best way for the question is not having a religion. Religion just divide humans that from the world
Reply:Careful. Don't analyze too close. You may find the error of your ways and have to convert, thus requireing the separation of the head from your shoulders according to your "peaceful" religion.

BTW I didn't EVEN read your question. I was afraid I would vomit on my laptop.
Reply:We can tell who is corrupt..THIS VERY BIBLE IS THE BOOK THAT WILL JUDGE YOU, not the other way around.

What exactly are hormones doing during the teenage years???

I am your typical teenage girl (15) and everyday is never the same feeling-wise. During the day and the evening, i can hardly concentrate, my mind is is hopping from one lily pad to another; my feelings go, literally, insane. For a while, I'll be happy, then sad, then lustful, then sad again, then angry, then I'll get over it all and do something that makes me happy and push everything else aside; rinse and repeat.

When i was under 11 my feelings were usually very stable, now I'm very irritable, easily put to tears, easily amused, and what the heck is all the lust about? I just don't get it.

What are my hormones doing to make me feel this way? I know that they're growing and maturing, but that can not be all, can it?

What exactly are hormones doing during the teenage years???
from things You hit the nail on the head. For the next 4 years or so, you'll feel like a passenger in a car being driven off a cliff by a drunken spastic monkey.

What I did seemed to work. Try and learn to be a bit detached as much as you can, if you feel a strong emotion assume it's not really yours, it's your body's problem. That way when the spastic monkey tries to make you have a screaming fit over nothing, you have a chance of stopping yourself in time.

The good news is by the time you get to college it'll all be over. So just don't take your time in high school too seriously and you'll be fine.
Reply:Hormones in a teenage body are hard at work, making changes, and more. They basically just change your feelings and how you look physically.

Let me know if i helped. =)
Reply:omg i'm the same way!! and it didn't start till 14, so yeah, could very possibly be hormones. i hate them. idk if there's anything you can do....let me know if you find an answer to this one!
Reply:i'm going through the same thing right now I talk to my mom about it and for some reason it always helps she answers what she can (usually thats alot) who really knows what they are up to but hey I say sooner then later
Reply:hormones are telling your body to change into a woman, and its making your body go hetic and making you feel alsorts of moods, im the same and im 15
Reply:riding a very big roller coaster!
Reply:being very very annoying. that what hormones do. hormones suck. they do make things to control them though...not medicnine, different foods and stuff will do that...

American Beauty: how can anyoen love such a terrible movie?

This movie was horrible. But yet when i mention that it got oscars over Green Mile (dont know how it got those.. must have been monkeys voting).. people say they loved it.

Can anyone name 1 good thing about that movie? and dont tell me the scene where3 the lilies fall on the woman.

I want a real reason this movie is considered good.

I thought it was the worst movie i had ever seen now next to Miami Vice.

Oh and add to that fact, that Not a single Kevin Spacey film in 10 years has been very appealing to me either. and he has done several.. first one i hated was LA Confidential. then all those weird sci-fi's he did.

American Beauty: how can anyoen love such a terrible movie?
Mina Suvari
Reply:This dark, tragi-comedy is beautifully shot and eloquently told. If you dislike it, surely it's not your kinda movie. It's alright.

I did not like Green Mile, though I agree it's beautifully shot, because I felt it to be sadist beyond redemption.

The same you can say of the other, but one appeals to you and the other to me.
Reply:i did not enjoy the movie 'The Green Mile', it did not live up to my expectations one bit, i think that was because i had read the books and had really enjoyed them. and i still think most of tom hanks' best movies are his comedies, i.e. 'Bachelor Party'. on the other hand i did enjoy 'American Beauty' and Kevin Spacey's 'falling to pieces' character and his ogling and obsessing over mina suvari. and i did see the message and outlook on life it was trying to get across to the viewers, mainly that life is not what it seems or appears to be. being happy is knowing what TRULY makes you happy deep, down in your heart %26amp; soul.

i assume you saw it on tv this weekend for the first time, i would suggest renting it or borrowing it from a friend and watching it all the way thru without the tv editing and commercial breaks... you can never seem to get into a movie on television
Reply:Well, I've never seen 'American Beauty' for the reason that it DID win The Oscar that year so I figured it would probally suck. Same reason I wasn't gonna watch 'Million Dollar Baby', but I accidently ended up watch MDB 2 weeks ago and DAMN! it was NOT what I was expecting. It was indeed worthy of The Oscar! Just still can't get myself to watch AB or 'The Piano' oscar-winning movie either... yuck!
Reply:i thought it to be quite clever, also the naked girl with rose pedals was cool
Reply:It took me a really long time to "get" this movie, too. I coundn't understand it at all, but I caught it on TV about a year ago and I finally did.

American Beauty is a type of rose. Hence the rose petals falling (not lilies, dearie) on the woman. Except, she isn't a woman, she's a girl, his daughters friend. He gets a crush on her, and begins to work on himself to make himself appear more attactive to her. This "mid-life" crisis leads to his own journey of self discovery and affects the live of his family and neighbours. Mainly, his wife and his daughter.

The moral of the story is that while he was attracted to this girl, she wasn't the fantasy he had envisioned. She was another girl like his wife had once been and what his daughter had become. And in his quest for her, this ideal, he had found the best parts of himself and found the love and beauty in his own heart that he hadn't seen before.

It really is a good film, but I agree that it isn't the best one ever made. And I'm also not a big Kevin Spacey fan either.

Maybe someday you might have a chance to view it again, like I did. Most likely not though. It really sounds like you've made up your mind on this one.

The real reason why I thought it was good at all is that it made me examine my own notions about what love and adulthood are, and the paradox of youth wishing for wisdom, and the adults yearning youth. Like Kevin Spacey "yearned" for was not what he really wanted or needed.
Reply:Are you sure you don't just have an aversion to Kevin Spacey in general? I love all his movies, including American Beauty. You either get it or you don't................

HTH : )
Reply:Movies are not only for entertainment value. This film shows the true façade that the American family puts up under the pressures of society to be perfect. Kevin Spacey undergoes a mid-life crisis, and because of that, truly sees what life is and that it is meant to be lived. He starts living his life...seeing things for what they are. He stops living a lie, while everyone else around him is in some way screwed up and trying to cover it up. This film, while more provocative, is truly more compelling than The Green Mile, a story that has been told time and time again. That's just me maybe, but generally Oscars are given to those films that are deep, so maybe you're just not seeing the deeper meaning behind it.
Reply:I agree with you completely!
Reply:They werent lillies peddels, they were rose peddels. If your a healthy male, with any kind of a sex drive that scene is great. The kind of feeling YOU get when your 2 meal-deals are passed to you through the window at the drive through. Get it?
Reply:it is not your type of movie ...

my friend loves it, I think it is ok. Not a bad movie at all, but not my favorite.
Reply:Simply, it is honest. You don't even have to relate to the guy; you just have to accept that he is telling you his point of view. He is undergoing a bizarre metamorphosis as a person. A midlife crisis that often beats people into the ground actually motivated him to change his station in life.

Not something that one could morally condone, his infatuation with the daughter's friend, but he proves that he doesn't need to have it all by saying "no" to her at the end.

There is no accounting for taste, either. I have a girlfriend that once adored Kevin Spacey, until she saw him in American Beauty, and then thought him to be a monster.

You can't defend his behaviour, nor should you, but it was a role he chose. Allowing a glimpse into his perception of life and what he wants out of it, followed by his methods to pursue these goals.

Perhaps Glengarry Glen Ross might be the one Spacey movie you could appreciate, but it seems to me that he is tainted in your eyes.
Reply:I totally like it's one of my favs da problem is it's not ur type that's all.
Reply:Green Mile was terrible! 3 hours that felt like 15. Trite and slow.

American Beauty was an excellent movie, as was LA Confidential. I don't want to be insulting, so I will just leave it there.
Reply:Here's your answer - Kevin Spacey

Why believe.?

Why should I believe in Jesus? I know that he definitely existed, no question. But apart from the deeds he is reported to have done while alive (no proof outside the bible), none of the promises he gave have happened. So is he who he said he is. The same question was asked by John the Baptist. Jesus reply was that the sick were being healed and the dead were being raised. But since Jesus death, nothing! Absolutely nothing! Those who have put their faith in him have had no protection, illnesses have not been cured and certainly no one has been resurrected. Quite the opposite in fact. Christians have been tortured, beaten to death, starved to death, and imprisoned for years, murdered or simply live in fear of their lives. Jesus said (I think) look! I am with you always. He also said (Think) Do not worry about what you are to wear or eat, your heavenly Father knows you need all these things. Have you observed the lilies of the field? If He can clothe them which will be cast away tomorrow, how much more so will he care for you?Or,not one bird falls from the sky that is not noted by God, how much more will he care for you. All this is in stark contrast to the reality, from the hideous death of John the Baptist, the stoning of Stephen and the horrible deaths of the Christians thrown to the lions and eaten alive, and so I could go on.

Do I want to believe? YES! I used to. I am now 66 and believe in nothing except there is most certainly a God, but I don't believe He is interested in earth and its inhabitants anymore.

Why believe.?
you have my pity, there is alot of anger in those words. thomas
Reply:My walk with Jesus Christ has been a very difficult one there are no promises of earthly glory or wealth, just suffering. I've been a christian for 21years my mother rejected me, friends rejected me and family rejected me. Many like to travel on the broad road but not many like to take the narrow way. The fire I had at salvation has never gone out. The scripture says hold fast to what you have.Repent and give your life wholly over to him before it's too late.

Matthew 5:11...Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Matthew 5:12....Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before.

If you suffer then you know you are of Christ.
Reply:he is interested in those that believe and Jesus is the only way to heaven. i pray all the time and always get results but you must truly believe.
Reply:You are missing the point. It's not about this life and skating through it without harm. It's about eternity. Jesus said in this life, we would have tribulation, meaning troubles. Even in the midst of the trials of life, I have joy and peace because I know Jesus as my savior. No one gets out of life alive. This life is very short compared to all of eternity. If you do not repent of your sins, and accept Jesus as savior, when this "short life" is over, you will be condemned for all of eternity. Jesus came to give us life, and that abundantly. Not only for all of time, but on this earth as well. My life prior to knowing Jesus can't even be compared to my life now.
Reply:u can study the other religions, such as Islam %26amp; others
Reply:Hey Alfred, I am very pleased to meet you. I feel the same as you (I was brought up a Catholic). I have nothing but contempt for Catholacism now BUT, I have decided that God isn't an entity or person with any powers. God is how you yourself think and behave. Compassion, love, friendship, kindness etc.... This helps me coz most of the christians I meet now are bloody selfish, judgemental and up their own arses.
Reply:Oh Ye of little faith!

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not.
Reply:I'm 67 and I still believe God cares hes just being patient and loving with us. you will see.
Reply:There are more paths to God than through the christian mythology of Jesus. The Jesus myth, as is all of the bible, a re-telling of older pagan myths. I have the research on that if you want it. There is nothing wrong with not believing in Jesus. Your line of thinking borders on Deism (which most of America's founding father's were). All rivers flow to the sea.
Reply:Dude....I have to agree with the first answer... Toooo long so i almost gave up half way through and as there are no paragraphs it just made it a rant. By the end of it I still have no idea what the question is.... you just need a soap box.
Reply:Jesus did exist I agree with you, but I don't believe a word of the bible because it was written by men, many of whom never even knew him. It is a book which tells us more about the politics of the time than anything else.
Reply:your heart knows the real truth
Reply:For thousands of years, mankind has had beliefs in gods and an afterlife. To an atheist like me, these are interesting facets of man;s inner life and psychological make-up, but no more real than fairies at the bottom of the garden. The problem with humans is that our high consciousness and self-awareness makes us "more than the sum of our parts". It actually forces us to ask questions about our origins, and about what happens after death. But, just because we have the abstract thought to allow us to conceive of "afterlife" "god" etc, it doesn;t mean we have the answers, because there is no evidence - except in "feelings" or "wishful thinking" and holy books written long long ago - for the existence of god or life after death.
Reply:Too long. Can you at least break up large blocks of text into normal sized paragraphs to make them easier for people to read?
Reply:Hey, All I know is that when I was a young girl my life was a living hell and I was suicidal, on drugs and looking for answers. I asked God the Creator who He was, what was the purpose He created me for, and if He was real to please show me. Then I started searching for Him through religions, the occult and other things and nothing in them gave me any answers. I went on with life but felt I was headed in no direction. Life just seemed like hoplessness to me. There had to be more to it than t.v. commercials, and what the world offered. Then one day at around the age of 24 I got sick and was flat on my back close to death. Someone gave me a novel that had the message of salvation written into the story line and it was explained in a way that when I read it it made complete sense to me.

The second I understood who Jesus was and what He did, it was like a veil was lifted off my spiritual eyes of understanding.

God revealed Himself to me, through His Son, Jesus Christ. My life changed dramatically after that and I have been a christian for over twenty something years and have never been disappointed or doubtful of Who He is and what my purpose of living is.

His promises have been true to me. I've experienced healings and miracles every single day. Life has not been easy either, but through those hard times He has lifted me up and carried me.

It's the hard times that built my faith and strengthened my character. I don't know how people can live in this world today without God.
Reply:Alfred, I used to wonder whether miracles actually happened today or not. I had looked around for some for ages and found nothing but fakes - and often people making money out of the fakery too. However, eventually I have come across real and genuine healings and have been involved with them myself. It is a case of going to the right places and meeting the right sort of Christians and not the nutters or those who are to be honest making a fast buck.

I think we also need to understand that Jesus promised his followers persecutions for the sake of the kingdom. I have no illusions this is a cruel and unjust world, but the promise seems to be that when he returns he will finally set it all right. Take a look at the lives of the martyrs too - they stared into death but maintained their faith - probably because they believed there was more to life than this world.

It is an awfully painful place to be in Alfred - but keep on looking.

I'm ten years old and i have a weight problem....?
Just get you a bike and ride with some of your friends or family members. Tell your mom how you feel, I'm sure she will be willing to help you. Also check out Sparkpeople.com, its very helpful and its free. And ignore your brother he just know how to get to you.
Reply:Honey-----please........go be a kid and get off the scale.
Reply:You are just 10 years old. I know every one else has said this but its true. Just go play with your friends. The weight will come off. Trust me. As you get older just stay active or get active if you are not already. You say you like swimming so go swimming. If you like to play football get some friends and go play. Just staying active and playing like a 10 year old does will take the weight off. Forget about your brother and what he is saying. I know how you feel with that. I have an older brother that gets to me too. They just do it because they like the rections we give. Just have fun in life right now. The pounds will come off!!
Reply:Well if you like swimming, join the swimming team!!! Take lessons!!if you like to play football see if there are any football lessons, and maybe find out if there are any football teams in your area that excepts girls!! look up some yummy recipies for a fruit frappe' or a fruit smoothie WITHOUT added sugar. You CAN do it!! I believe in you! now all you gotta do is believe in ur self too. if you want a candy bar, run around the block twice beforehand. Then after a week or two running around the block twice daily, incease it to three times around the block and 1 bite less of that candy bar. keep inclining the excercise and declining the candy bar and you'll be fit in no time. By the way here is a yummy recipie for strawberry sorbet :

Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1 quart fresh strawberries

fresh lemon juice to taste

Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a small saucepan over high heat. Let cool.

Wash and hull the strawberries. Puree in a blender or food proceesor until smooth. Press the strawberries through a very fine mesh strainer to remove the seeds and pulp.

Add half the sugar syrup to the pureed strawberries. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and taste. Continue adding sugar syrup (by the tablespoon) and lemon juice until you reach the desired degree of sweetness.

Freeze the strawberry mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Happy eatings!!!!
Reply:your 10... get of the computer... go swimming run..play like a 10 year old would do.
Reply:I agree with the others. You're only 10 years old. I'm actually kinda shocked that you're asking such a question on the internet. Do you have someone to talk to? If not your parents, maybe an Aunt or a school counselor.
Reply:sweetie, who cares about what your brother says?? trust me.. i grew up getting teased too, not because i had a weight problem but because i was such a tomboy and everyone would tease me about it! but i got over it and eventually they did too, its who i am. you need to quit worrying so much, thats what makes people gain weight! youre a kid, just go outside and do what you love to do, play footie, swim, just make sure you dont eat too much junk food! remember to eat healthy but if you want some chips then grab some! just dont finish the whole bag!
